Roberts Stumbris joins Pallacanestro Trieste

Pallacanestro Trieste announces that it has acquired the sports performance of Latvian forward Roberts Stumbris, class of 1993, from Pallacanestro Trapani, who signed a 1+1 agreement until the end of the next sports season.

"The one with Stumbris was an agreement closed in 20 hours - the analysis of General Manager Mario Ghiacci - We had to react immediately to Hudson's injury in order to ensure the competitiveness of our roster and we did not waste time. The player will be available as early as tonight's practice and we hope he will be able to quickly fit into the team's mechanisms."

Stumbris, after playing the last two seasons in Iceland and Poland, did his summer training with Pallacanestro Brescia, and then moved to Pallacanestro Trapani in A2 last November. With the Sicilian team he collected 17 league appearances, averaging 14.5 points per game and 6.5 rebounds. The Latvian forward is part of the national team roster led by coach Banchi, with whom he took part in the preliminary phase of the FIBA 2023 World Cup in Group A.

"It is first of all right to thank the club - the words of coach Marco Legovich - for this additional effort to put us in the best conditions to achieve our goals. With Stumbris we add to our roster a dangerous player on the perimeter, versatile and with great physicality being able to cover the roles of 3 and 4. We will have to be good at fitting him into the team as soon as possible, but the enthusiasm that the player showed when he was given the opportunity to get involved in the top league will certainly be fuel to speed up the process."

Pallacanestro Trieste comunica di aver acquisito le prestazioni sportive dell'ala lettone Roberts Stumbris, classe 1993, proveniente dalla Pallacanestro Trapani, che ha firmato un accordo di 1+1 fino alla fine della prossima stagione sportiva.

"Quello con Stumbris è stato un accordo chiuso in 20 ore - l'analisi del General Manager Mario Ghiacci - Abbiamo dovuto reagire immediatamente all'infortunio di Hudson per poter garantire la competitività del nostro roster e non abbiamo perso tempo. Il giocatore sarà a disposizione già dall'allenamento di questa sera e ci auguriamo possa aver modo di inserirsi in tempi rapidi nei meccanismi della squadra".

Stumbris, dopo aver militato nelle ultime due stagioni in Islanda e Polonia, ha svolto la preparazione estiva con la Pallacanestro Brescia, per poi accasarsi, a novembre scorso, alla Pallacanestro Trapani in A2. Con la squadra siciliana ha collezionato 17 presenze in campionato, facendo segnare una media di 14.5 punti a partita e 6.5 rimbalzi. L'ala lettone fa parte del giro della nazionale guidata da coach Banchi, con la quale ha preso parte alla fase preliminare della Coppa del Mondo FIBA 2023 nel Gruppo A.
